The Jackson 5's Amazing Run in 1970 on the R&B Chart

Newcomers Jackson 5 stormed out of the gate in 1970.  They thoroughly dominated the R&B chart in a way that few others have done in that genre's history.

Michael Jackson and his brothers first appeared at #1 with "I Want You Back" on January 10.  They remained at #1 on the R&B chart for four weeks.  "ABC" became the group's next #1 on April 4 and it also lasted four weeks at the top.  In June, the quintet was back at their favorite spot with "The Love You Save" and this time, they lasted six weeks at the top of the R&B chart until Stevie Wonder bumped them out with "Signed, Sealed Delivered (I'm Yours)".  But the Jackson 5 returned to #1 with their biggest career hit--"I'll Be There", which also remained at the top for six weeks.

That's 20 weeks at #1 on the R&B chart for the year 1970, truly a remarkable accomplishment!
