Won Favorite Female in a Comedy or Romance (The Preacher's Wife) and Favorite Female, R&B for "The Preacher's Wife Soundtrack at the Blockbuster Entertainment Awards.
Won the Triumphant Spirit Award at the Essence Awards.
Won Best Gospel Album at the Billboard Music Awards.
Won Outstanding Mainstream Contribution to Gospel Music at the Dove Awards.
Won the Best-Selling Gospel Recording ("The Preacher's Wife" Soundtrack) from the National Association of Recording Merchandisers Awards.
Won an ASCAP Pop Award for "Count on Me".

February:  Nominated for Grammy Awards for Album of the Year ("Waiting To Exhale" Soundtrack), Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals ("Count on Me"), Best Female R&B Vocal Performance ("Exhale (Shoop Shoop)") and Best Song Written for a Motion Picture ("Count on Me".  The Whitney song "Exhale (Shoop Shoop)", written by Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds was also nominated in this category.
February 1:  "Step by Step" was certified Silver (sales of 200,000 copies) in the U.K.
February 4:  "I Believe in You and Me" was certified Gold and Platinum in the United States.
April 22:  "Step by Step" was certified Gold in the United States.
June 30:  "The Preacher's Wife" Soundtrack was certified 3 x Multi-Platinum in the United States.
