Tribute to Glenn Frey: "New Kid In Town"

The release of their greatest hits package in 1976 fit well with their arrival on top of the world, a place they pretty much stayed at until their breakup in 1980.  (or in their words, "a long hiatus")

Beginning with the album One of These Nights in 1975, the Eagles could do no wrong.  While their early releases were highly underrated as we now know, that wasn't the case anymore.  Eagles' releases were highly-sought after, and by this time, radio personnel recognized the tremendous appeal of the Eagles to the everyday man and woman.  An album that sells 29 million will do that.

As great as One of These Nights was, the Eagles topped it with their 1977 release, Hotel California.  If they hadn't already done so, the addition of elite guitarist Joe Walsh cemented the group's reputation as one of the finest in the world.  Walsh makes his first appearance on Hotel California, sharing the famous guitar solo with Don Felder on the album's title song.  More on that in our next segment.

Bassist Randy Meisner played with the group for the final time on the album, which has sold over 16 million copies in the U.S. and 32 million worldwide.  The Eagles captured a Grammy Award for "New Kid In Town" for Best Arrangement for Voices.
