One of the Best of The Top Unknown/Underrated Songs of the Rock Era: "No Such Thing" by John Mayer

To convey to people how messed up radio is nowadays, all one need to is point out that, according to the charts, John Mayer has never had a Top 10 song.  This great first single only reached #13, when it should have been a cinch for #1.  Makes a whole lot of sense, doesn't it?  This is of course from one of the great albums of the Rock Era, Room for Squares.  He has had big hits on the Adult chart but not overall.  Which pretty much tells the story.  The Adult chart, which is the most popular due to the millions of "baby boomers", and has been for over 20 years, is therefore more accurate when gauging a song or an artist's popularity.  If Billboard and the other trade magazines had their methodology right, they would of course recognize this and essentially make the Adult chart the "Hot 100" chart.  But, they've gone goofy, making this feature all the more popular, for The Top Unknown/Underrated Songs of the Rock Era* contains all the songs that did not make the Top 10 but should have.
