The Top 100 Songs of 1991*: #60-51

In 1991, The Cold War ended with the dissolution of the Soviet Union, saving both Russia and the United States billions of dollars.  And, Iragi leader Saddam Hussein announced the withdrawal of troops from Kuwait just one month after the United States sent troops to reverse the Iraqi takeover.  Iraqi soldiers set fire to Kuwait old fields as they retreated.

Likable Paula Abdul had another fine year in 1991.  We heard her at #81 with "The Promise Of A New Day" and here she is at #56.

This British artist has now sold over 40 million records worldwide.

Touch Me (All Night Long)
Cathy Dennis

Cathy Dennis scored an international hit when this song reached the Top 10 in the U.S., the U.K., Canada, Australia and Ireland.

D.J. Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince

This song hit #1 on the R&B chart and earned a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group.

Good Vibrations
Marky Mark And The Funky Bunch Featuring Loleatta Holloway

Mark Wahlberg went on to become a successful actor, but in 1991, this song went to #1 in the U.S., Sweden and Switzerland







#51:

Tell Me What You Want Me To Do
Tevin Campbell

This million seller is from the Waxahachie, Texas singer who first signed with Warner Brothers Records in 1988.  He went to work on his debut album, which contained the hit "Round And Round".  He enjoyed an even bigger hit on the album with this one.
