J. Geils Has Died

John W. Geils, Jr,, better known as J. Geils, founder, singer-songwriter and lead guitarist of the J. Geils Band, died of natural causes yesterday in Groton, Massachusetts.


Geils led the group bearing his name to two monster hits in the early '80s, with "Centerfold" climbing to #1 in 1981.




"Freeze Frame" reached #4 the following year.

Geils was 71.
