Top 100 Artists of the Rock Era Begins Tomorrow Only on Inside The Rock Era!

 We are now just one day away from one of the greatest music specials you will ever hear--The Top 100 Artists of the Rock Era*!  Spanning 65 years, the artists are ranked by the number and quality of hits with a heavy weighting on competition, number of quality album tracks, album sales, and awards.  All of these factors are quantified via a unique points system, and the artists are then ranked on the total number of points accumulated.

At the outset, you should know that it is extremely tough to crack this list, especially now in the era of lower music quality.  The "error rate" of the artists in the first 10 is plus or minus 8, meaning that someone whose total points place them at #100 could be as high as 92 or as low as 108.  The error rate goes down the higher the rankings, to where the Top 10 is virtually error free--the artists there are just about exactly where they should be ranked.

No one is going to agree with 100% of the rankings because everyone has their own tastes.  But, with the error rate applied, the rankings shown are fairly accurate as to how much popularity and success each artist has.  To fully appreciate, don't wallow in the rankings and instead enjoy all of the great music and information.

Join us beginning tomorrow, February 1, as we salute two artists who were ranked in the Top 100 four years ago before we had to suspend operations.  We follow that with the #100 artist and will feature one per day until we get to #1.
