1973 was a year in which hard rock asserted itself after the soft sounds of the early years of the decade.  As a result, that style is more reflected in the Top 10 Albums.

Here they are, in order:

2.    Goodbye Yellow Brick Road by Elton John

3.    Houses of the Holy by Led Zeppelin

4.    Innervisions by Stevie Wonder

5.    There Goes Rhymin' Simon by Paul Simon

6.    Brothers and Sisters by Allman Brothers Band

7.    Homecoming by America

8.    Don't Shoot Me I'm Only the Piano Player by Elton John

9.    The Captain and Me by the Doobie Brothers

10.  Machine Head by Deep Purple
