There's going to be fans of about 150 different female artists who believe their star is underrated, but the reality is that they can't all be underrated--someone has to rank them and that's where we come in.
It's important to realize this: just to make The Top 100 Female Artists* is a great achievement. For example, consider the artists who just missed--the Chiffons, the Go-Go's, Lesley Gore, Nicki Minaj, the Marvelettes, Karyn White, Joan Baez, Judy Collins and Vanessa Williams.
