For the same reason actors such as Paul Newman were never given the awards they deserved (jealously), we have much the same case in music. The Eagles obviously are one of The Top 10 Artists of the Rock Era, but their fellow artists who weren't as talented chose to give awards to lesser artists.

In 2001, the Eagles were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame--duh...one of the best vocal groups of all-time.
In 2008, the Eagles' classic song "Hotel California" was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
