1979 was a great year for albums. Besides these 10, others that got strong consideration were London Calling by the Clash, the debut from the B-52's, Styx's Cornerstone, Spirits Having Flown by the Bee Gees, One Step Beyond by Madness and Unknown Pleasures by Joy Division. All of these are solid, and there are many other albums from the year that are worth checking out.
It was very tough eliminating the last album, which was One Step Beyond, a superb debut for Madness. These are the Top 10*:
1. Breakfast In America by Supertramp
2. In Through The Out Door by Led Zeppelin
3. The Long Run by the Eagles
4. At Budokan by Cheap Trick
5. Head Games by Foreigner
6. Minute By Minute by the Doobie Brothers
7. The Clash by the Clash (released in Europe in 1977 but didn't go worldwide until 1979)
8. Off The Wall by Michael Jackson
9. In The Heat Of The Night by Pat Benatar
10. Highway To Hell by AC/DC
