For the last several months, we have been hard at work on researching, compiling, and producing a major music special, The Top 100 Artists of the Seventies*. We are excited to bring this to you three weeks from today on Inside The Rock Era!
The 70's were one of the most diverse of the musical decades. It started off with the soft sound of artists such as Bread, the Carpenters, the 5th Dimension, and others. I think people were just worn out by the turbulent 60's! Rock began to reassert itself later in the decade, but by the mid-70's, a new form of music sprang up, as discotheques were packed throughout the globe.
Many artists got their start in the 70's, as new genres and sub-genres popped up, and radio stations began to specialize in different forms of rock & roll. In fact, the artists who naturally did the best in this special were ones which were active for all or nearly all of the decade.
Musically, it was a fabulous decade, and we'll celebrate the 100 most successful artists with The Top 100 Artists of the Seventies*, beginning October 1 on Inside The Rock Era!
