Featured Unknown/Underrated Song*: "Riders On The Storm" by the Doors

Here's yet another example of a great song that did not reach the Top 10.  We suspect it was because radio programmers back then didn't want to play any song over three minutes.  Besides being extremely shortsighted and trying to dictate to artists what type of songs they should write, it was also dumb to not play a great song.  For the stations which played it would soon dominate the shortsighted programmers.

"Riders On The Storm"
Doors

Written by Jim Morrison, Robby Krieger, Ray Manzarek and John Densmore

Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Into this house we're born
Into this world we're thrown
Like a dog without a bone, an actor out on loan
Riders on the storm
There's a killer on the road
His brain is squirming like a toad
Take a long holiday
Let your children play
If you give this man a ride, sweet memory will die
Killer on the road, yeah
Girl, you gotta love your man
Girl, you gotta love your man
Take him by the hand
Make him understand
The world on you depends, our life will never end
Gotta love your man, yeah
Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Into this house we're born
Into this world we're thrown
Like a dog without a bone, an actor out on loan
Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
