Unlike the summer special The Top 100 Albums of the Rock Era*, live albums are eligible for the Top 10 for each year as long as it is the first we have heard from the group. Movie soundtracks are eligible as long as they consist of all new material. Greatest Hits or other compilations are not eligible. In other words, we are looking for creativity. Also unlike The Top 100 Albums of the Rock Era*, which is based on the collective opinion of the music-buying public, the Top 10 lists include more of my opinion.

7. Hold Out by Jackson Browne
8. Glass Houses by Billy Joel
9. Guilty by Barbra Streisand
10. Damn The Torpedoes by Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers
