The Top 500 One-Hit Wonders of the Rock Era--Starting Wednesday

We can't wait to unveil our latest "creation":  The Top 500 One-Hit Wonders of the Rock Era*.  This is a special deal--these guys aren't superstars; they never did it "for the money".  They did what they did because they enjoyed it.  They had talent and through good breaks, perseverance, and much help from others, they enjoyed a big hit song.

Many people listen to the radio and take for granted what they're hearing.  Anyone who thinks it is easy to even get one song played on the radio should write a few songs, get a group together, record them, try to get a contract or pay tens of thousands of dollars to promote it.  I was in the business--I know--it isn't easy.  It's tough to even get a marketable song written and recorded, and then once you go through all that, I would get about 100 new songs each week on my desk.  Of those, we would choose an average of three of them.  My experience tells me that of the one artist who gets a song on the radio, there are about one million who do not.  Those are your odds.

So I hope you can appreciate these "One-Hit Wonders" as much as I.  It is no small achievement, and Wednesday is the day Inside the Rock Era begins the special.  It will run through April 8, as we present 20 of these great artists each day--please join us!
