Prelude to The Top 500 Songs of the Rock Era*: Prince's "Purple Rain"

The fun and excitement begins May 21, with the unveiling of The Top 500 Songs of the Rock Era*.  The special will showcase ten songs per day through July 9, the day that Bill Haley & the Comets became the first rock & roll artist to reach #1.  That monumental event launched the beginning of the Rock Era, with all of the great songs we have loved from the last 60 years.

The wildly successful "Purple Rain" Soundtrack came out in 1984, and the title song was ever so close to making The Top 500*. 

One of Prince's biggest career hits, Inside The Rock Era presents it as part of our Prelude*.
