The music world has lost another musical giant, as Donna Summer's publicist confirms that Donna has died at age 63 after a long battle with cancer. Summer had been living in Englewood, Florida with her husband, Rick Sudano.
Summer became a legend with her amazing voice, sung over pulsating dance tunes. She was famous for holding notes for what seemed like forever, especially on "Dim all the Lights" and "No More Tears", her duet with Barbra Streisand. At one time, it was reported that she held the Rock Era record for holding a note the longest of any recorded song. She appeared in the movie Thank God It's Friday, taking home the Best Original Song at the Academy Awards for "Last Dance". Summer had 32 hits, including 14 Top 10's and five #1 songs and was reportedly working on a new album. She won five Grammys over her career.
