MCA Records combined the Decca, Uni and Kapp labels in 1971. After achieving considerable success in the mid-70's with artists such as Elton John, Neil Diamond and Olivia Newton-John, the label acquired ABC Records and its affiliates, then added subsidiaries Infinity, Mechanic and Backstreeet Records. MCA continued as one of the top recording labels until 2003, when it was absorbed by Geffen Records.
